Play with your food!

I am always looking for new creative ways to reinvent the typical veggie platter or cheese display. Here are a few fun ways for you to play with your food!

Bacara Wedding M + J

Melissa and Justin wanted to have a mexican flare at their cocktail hour to make it fun and different from their dinner menu selections.  They served Jalapeno Watermelon Lemonade Cocktails to compliment their appetizers.

Appetizers included:

Lobster and Shrimp Empanadas with a Yellow Tomato Cilantro Salsa
Crispy Chicken Cakes with Lime Cilantro Aioli

To keep the theme of "fun", they introduced a self serve Mashed Potato Martini Station!   Guests were able to customize their "Martinis" with the following toppings:

The Old Standard
Applewood Smoked Bacon, Tillamook Cheddar Cheese, Sour Cream and chives

Meat and Potatoes
Braised Beef Short Ribs with Horseradish Creamed Potato, Red Wine Sauce, and Crispy Onions

This structure was one of my favorite elements of this wedding.  A friend of the groom custom made this structure with Curly Willow.  He drove this structure all the way from Ohio in the back of his truck!  Can you believe that this was his first time ever creating something like this?  It will be taken to the parents of the brides house to keep safe in their garden until the couple move into a larger home with a big backyard.  How wonderfully sentimental is that!  Thanks Dakota!!

Cupcake flavors included:

Red Velvet with rich Cream Cheese Filling
Carrot Cake with Rich Cream Cheese Filling
White Chocolate Cake with Dark Chocolate Filling

The groom is originally from Ohio State.  A special surprise from the new in-laws for his grooms cake.  They even ended up cutting it during the cake cutting ceremony.  O-H-I-O!
